This may be the chain’s return to offering breakfast tacos made with tortillas, but previous releases haven’t always been so successful. Aside from the A.M. Grilled Tacos, Taco Bell’s first breakfast items debuted nationally back in 2014 and featured a breakfast taco variation. The Waffle Taco combined eggs, cheese, and sausage or bacon in a folded waffle, paired with maple syrup to pour on or dip.
A year after the waffle taco’s debut in 2015, it was replaced by the biscuit taco, featuring the same fillings, but inside a folded biscuit. The item was criticized for the quality of the biscuits, and it ultimately disappeared from menus by mid-2016.
The fast food chain currently offers a morning-friendly take on the Crunchwrap: scrambled eggs, a hash brown patty, cheese, and the customer’s choice of bacon, sausage, or steak, all packed inside a tortilla. Customers can also order a variety of breakfast burritos and quesadillas, as well as a la carte hash browns and Cinnabon delights.
